CMI Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship in Management and Leadership (QCF) (15 Month Programme)

The CMI Level 5 Higher Advanced Apprenticeship in Management and Leadership, with affiliation to CMI (MCMI) is ideal for middle and senior managers with a wide span of control and accountability for performance, in particular those with responsibility for determining resource allocation and operational methods in their department or organisation.

Lasting 15 months, the programme has been specially designed to give practising managers a solid foundation for their formal development, building up a wide range of management skills and gaining the comprehensive leadership and management knowledge required, via the CMI Level 5 Extended Diploma in Leadership and Management. Throughout the programme, learners will utilise facilitated action learning techniques to increase personal leadership capabilities. Learners gain valuable applied workplace learning through the CMI Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Management and Leadership, enabling them to implement organisational innovation and improvement.

The Competency Element

This NVQ allows students to demonstrate their abilities in the working environment, whilst working with their teams, seniors and stakeholders.  Evidence can be collected in a number of ways, through student produced evidence, Professional Statements, Expert Witness Testimonies, Tutor Lead Statements, Professional Discussion, Written Answers to Questions.

The Knowledge Element

The Technical Diploma explores the core skills, knowledge and prepares the foundations needed to manage a team. Learners examine through assignments, essays and case studies different aspects of management and leadership, whilst developing solid business skills.  Students also develop skills in plan, project management, resource management, decision making and day-to-day management of their department/division.

The final two elements are the development of Personal learning and Thinking Skills, which is embedded in the knowledge and competency elements of training and Employment Rights, and Responsibilities where legal knowledge is checked through completion of a workbook.

Delivery Method:

Mainly a blended approach, including learners being visited every month, normally for an afternoon or morning session (3 hours), with 3 or more learners in the same workplace, this is normally a day session (10am – 4pm).  Learners are also advised that work is not to be completed at home, however, our learners enjoy the notion of studying and like to work from home on an evening or a weekend to complete their assignments – we advise no more than 15 hours per month doing this.

When I registered with the course I was a little sceptical, as I had started other courses and abandoned them because of the unfriendly nature of the course design, however, with this course my scepticism quickly disappeared, as I found the course well designed, delivered in a very easy and intuitive way and with comprehensive study materials.

Throughout the course he was very supportive and especially when answering any queries or questions I had. Grahams style of tutoring makes him a very easy person to deal with and I found that he was not slow at coming forward with advice.

The journey in completing this programme would have been a lot more difficult had it not been for the unwavering support I received from Graham. His constant support, unbroken patience and superb depth of knowledge made this possible. The knowledge and experience I have gained due to his experience has played a part in my own success at work and I know that I will be able to call on him for further support in the future
